Pride has several working groups you can get involved with! Working groups are temporary groups that have been struck to work on a specific task or project for the Collective. If you’re interested in participating in a working group please email pride@uvic.ca to receive updates and meeting times.

For most recently updated Working Group times, please check out this Facebook post below:

Current Working Groups:

Harm Reduction Working Group
This working group has been tasked by the Collective to brainstorm and come up with ideas on how to provide harm reduction in the collective. This working group has yet to meet. Please get in touch if you’re interested in joining or have ideas about harm reduction and how we can provide them!

Decolonizing Working Group
The collective acknowledges that colonial mindsets and violence is pervasive in our settler society, and UVic Pride is not immune. This working group is focused on developing and collaborating on efforts to acknowledge and address the intersections that colonialism and our community occupy.

Transfeminine Inclusion Working Group
This working group was formed in response to the historic and ongoing transmisogyny within the UVic Pride Collective. The group’s main focus is to be accountable to the transmisogyny that the UVic Pride Collective has perpetuated through affirmative action and prioritising the needs and desires of transfeminine people within the Collective. We also work to hold other campus and community groups and organisations accountable to their own transmisogyny, as well as work to make the UVic Campus a safer and more inclusive place for trans women and transfeminine people. Please contact us with questions, ideas, or if you are interested in participating!
